An Amazon spokesperson has confirmed that Amazon director of consumables for Germany, Rocco Braeuniger will move to the role of country manager for Amazon Australia in the coming months. He joined Amazon in 2006 and has held a variety of positions during his 11 years at the company.

He holds a diploma from the University of Bayreuth in Germany and master of business administration from Babson College in the US.

This appointment follows the recent announcement from Amazon Australia that it will create hundreds of new jobs with its first fulfilment centre in Melbourne’s Dandenong South.

Amazon director of operations for Australia, Robert Bruce said: “This new fulfilment centre will stock hundreds of thousands of products which will be available for delivery to customers across Australia when we launch our retail offering. We will be focusing on offering our Australian customers low prices on a great selection of products and can’t wait to get started.”
