Western Australians will be the first in the country to have state-wide access to a smartphone application that will allow them to order their McDonald’s meals ahead via their smartphone.
My Macca’s app will allow Western Australians to create their meal anywhere, any time. Meals are then made to order when the customer validates it by scanning a QR code installed in drive thrus or at an in-store mobile check-in point.
McDonald’s chief marketing officer Mark Lollback said My Macca’s would give customers the chance to browse the full restaurant menu at their leisure, easily customise their order if they wanted to add fresh tomato or lettuce or give pickles the flick, and pay via credit card.
“We are constantly looking at ways to deliver new technology and innovation to our customers and are thrilled to offer the convenience of mobile ordering on devices people already use every day,” he said.
WA is the first state to launch this exciting new element to the Macca’s experience, with more to follow next year.
The launch comes after Roy Morgan’s Single Source data for July 2012 to June 2013 revealed 41.9 per cent of Western said they can’t live without their mobile phone and 44.5 per cent have downloaded an app in the last four weeks from an app store.
The app is available for Android and iPhone devices and can be downloaded via Google Play or at the iTunes app store.
