Retailers who want to enter the World Retail Awards, held on 10 April 2008 at the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC) in Barcelona, better hurry up as there are just three days left for companies to submit their entries. The awards, organised in association with Oracle, are a major part of the World Retail Congress program (9-11 April 2008).
Now in its second year, entries to the awards can be submitted online at www.worldretailawards.com, and will be judged by a line-up of retail leaders, including Myer CEO Bernie Brooks.
“As the initial year demonstrated, the World Retail Awards is a fantastic opportunity for retail to fly a proud flag as a truly international industry. In a retail world which is quickly moving and consolidating across the boundaries of countries and cultures, it celebrates the uniqueness and the dynamics of the industry while recognising the companies and individuals who have been successful," says Brooks.
Entries can be made for the following categories: Responsible Retailer of the Year; Innovative Format of the Year; Emerging Market Retailer of the Year; Marketing; Campaign of the Year; Retail Destination of the Year; Employer of the Year, and Multi-channel Retailer of the Year.
In addition, the organisers have revealed that two further categories will again be selected by the grand jury namely the Multi Market Retailer of the Year and Retailer of the Year. Nominations for these categories will come from the judging panel, with the award winners chosen by the competition’s grand jury.
The grand jury comprises a broad spectrum of CEO level, respected retailers from around the world, together with senior representatives from academia, FMCG companies and suppliers.
The grand jury will meet to review the short listed entries across all categories during the World Retail Congress.
