Group buying company cudo.com.au announced it had raised $100,000 in donations for Queensland flood relief in just one afternoon.
On Wednesday, the company announced that it would match flood relief donations of up to $100 by its members. In less than two hours, it internal target of $50,000 had been reached. Cudo matched the donation by thousands of its members, bringing the total donation amount to $100,000.
Cudo CEO Billy Tucker said that the online effort was a small contribution given the scale of the disaster, but he was pleased that Cudo was able to assist:
“We’re overwhelmed by the generosity of our members. In under two hours, more than 8,000 people went online and donated to help Australians in need. It’s a great testament to the generosity of Australians and the power of the Internet.”
