Australian Geographic Retail has partnered with brand and design agency phdcreative to extend its retail offering online with the launch of its e-commerce website.
Kirsten Hartley, Australian Geographic Retail head of e-commerce, told Retailbiz multi-channel retailing is going to be a significant factor in the company’s future growth.
“We wanted to have a website, which gave us greater flexibility in the future. It will give us a platform to really enhance our activities online and allow us to engage with customers who may not be able to get to our stores and this new website will let us reach across to them,” she said.
“I think people also enjoy having the flexibility to shop whenever and wherever they like, such as when our stores are closed or early in the morning. And as time goes by, our website will evolve as this is only the very first phase as we really want to enhance the interactivity that is available on the site.”
Australian Geographic Retail’s new website enables visitors to search for specific gifts, or browse through the range of over 450 gifts, by recipient, price or type.
“We have strong product offering for that is available both in-store and online. We have a lot of educational gifts for children as well as people in general who are after gifts that is reflective of our nation or enjoy getting outdoors,” Hartley said.
“We will constantly be adding new products to our online range but at the moment the website reflects what we have in-store.”
Hartley also noted that Australian Geographic Retail has been working with phdcreative for just under two years on reinvigoration its in-store experience that is now reflective on its website.
“ We wanted to keep our in-store visual imager consistent on our website and that’s we were really keen on working with phdcreative again to develop the website and put what they created in our stores on our online presence,” she said.
