Australian fintech, Slyp has announced a national partnership with pharmacy group, Chemist Warehouse and leading business bank, NAB, to help accelerate the switch from paper receipts to smart receipts.
The partnership sees Chemist Warehouse offer digital receipts by request for in-store purchases across its 460+ store network with itemised smart receipts being delivered directly to customers via the NAB mobile app.
Every week Chemist Warehouse prints 2.2 million paper receipts across Australia. The switch to smart receipts follows the recent integration of e-prescriptions within stores.
Slyp soft launched its technology platform in December 2020 in partnership with NAB, with a full consumer launch including receipt notifications, export tools and further features expected in the coming months.
Over 120,000 users have signed up to start receiving smart receipts in the NAB app from over 20 major retailers including General Pants, Harris Farm and Cue.
Slyp co-founder and CEO, Paul Weingarth said the platform is on a mission to eradicate paper receipts from the retail sector with a goal of one in two Australians having access to smart receipts by this time next year.
“The retail sector has been calling for a smart alternative for years and the uptake we’ve seen in recent months tells us that both merchants and their customers firmly agree. For Chemist Warehouse customers, the delivery of smart receipts via SMS or through their bank app will provide an environmentally friendly, digital record of their purchase,” he said.
“With the backing of NAB, further support and integration with other major banks, and by partnering with leading retailers like Chemist Warehouse, we’re on a path to transform the Australian retail sector, streamline the payments process and bring retailers closer to their customers while saving our environment from unnecessary destruction”.
Chemist Warehouse chairman and co-founder, Jack Gance said the pharmacy strives to provide customers with the latest in technological innovation to enhance the in-store experience.
“We’re proud to be setting the standard when it comes to digitisation within the industry. We’re delighted to have launched Slyp smart receipts to improve our environmental footprint and simplify the checkout process for both our customers and our retailers,” he said.
“Intuitive and easily accessible, smart receipts are the next, logical step forward in the transformation of the retail experience and move towards a more sustainable in-store approach.”
