Following the successful launch of Telstra Satellite home internet powered by Starlink, Telstra is extending product eligibility to include small business customers.
For metro-based businesses, the convenience of fast and reliable internet can largely be taken for granted, while those operating in rural and remote Australia often face challenges staying connected.
For small businesses with five or fewer employees, Telstra’s world-first Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite internet and voice product will now be available. Telstra’s Satellite Home Internet, powered by Starlink, will deliver additional connectivity options for small businesses in rural and remote locations to help them overcome distance or geographical barriers.
A benefit of LEO satellites is that they are closer to Earth than traditional geostationary satellites with multiple satellites that form part of a ‘constellation’. The proximity of these satellites reduces latency so they can send and receive signals faster, providing a more consistent option for voice and video calls.
Telstra’s satellite home internet plan for small businesses is available to order for the same cost as the consumer plan at $125 per month. The latest Telstra Smart Modem Gen 3 is included for use with the plan (a $200 non-return fee applies if cancelled within 24 months). The Starlink standard kit is available for purchase for $599.Estimated typical peak period speeds of 50Mbps download and 10Mbps upload, even in the most remote locations.
