Who Gives A Crap is adding a variety of garbage and compostable bags to its household product repertoire, with the release of 100% Recycled Garbage Bags and Dog Poo Bags, as well as 100% Compostable Food Scrap Bags.
Who Gives A Crap co-founder, Simon Griffiths is confident this new release is an important step in achieving the brand’s mission of giving everyone in the world access to clean water and sanitation:
“We donate 50% of our profits to help build toilets all over the world and for us to have the greatest impact, we need to grow our product range. What better way than adding new fun essential products people use every day,” he said.
Each of the bags are leak and tear-proof and have tie handles. In true Who Gives A Crap style, the bags feature unique designs with bold colours and geometric shapes – the Dog Poo Bags include illustrations of different pooches.
The Garbage and Dog Poo Bags are made from 100% recycled plastic to help give trash a second life, while the Compostable Food Scrap Bags are crafted with plant matter to help minimise the impact on food systems and are 100% compostable.
Being TUV Austria certified, these bags are home and industrial compostable, breaking down within a year when composted at home, or within three months at an industrial composting facility.
Who Gives A Crap sustainability director, Bernie Wiley believes rubbish can be confusing and misleading for consumers who are trying to make considered choices.
“While people may have good intentions, most are unfortunately disposing of their rubbish wrong. While it’s best to reduce, reuse and recycle where possible, unfortunately, some rubbish is likely to end up in landfill. From a sourcing and production perspective, recycled plastic that ends up in landfill has the least impact on the environment,” he said.
“It’s our role to help educate customers on the best possible option for their household essentials. We’ve tried to simplify taking out the trash, with one bag for each purpose and end of life.”
