Amazon Australia has introduced its Climate Pledge Friendly program, making it easier for shoppers to find and purchase products with sustainability certifications.
Australian customers now have access to 180,000 products that have been certified by one of 38 globally recognised organisations, each meeting at least one sustainability standard. Partners include governmental agencies, non-profits, and independent laboratories such as Rainforest Alliance, OEKO-TEX, and Recycled Claim Standard 100.
These products, spanning categories such as beauty, fashion, electronics, and home essentials, are marked with a leaf icon and offer detailed information about their eco-friendly attributes.
Customers can find items that incorporate recycled materials, promote energy efficiency, or adhere to responsible agricultural practices. Participating brands include global names like Dell, Braun, and L’Oréal, as well as local Australian businesses such as Step One, Modibodi and Joonya.
“We know many customers are looking for products that have strong environmental and social credentials, which align with their personal values. Climate Pledge Friendly is a simple way for Aussies to make considered choices when shopping with us,” Janet Menzies, Amazon Australia country manager said.
“The overseas success of the Climate Pledge Friendly program shows that an increasing number of customers are seeking more sustainable products. We’re excited to be bringing this offering to our Australian customers. It’s all part of our commitment to help customers make more informed shopping choices.”
The Climate Pledge Friendly program is also available in Japan, the US, Europe, Mexico, and Brazil.
