Australia’s largest supplier of office and stationery products has taken out the eftpos Australian Retailers Association Retailer of the Year title. The retailer dominates the $12 billion market sector.
The awards were held at the National Gallery of Victoria where 550 guests gathered for the announcement of the winners of the 10 awards up for grabs.
ARA executive director, Russell Zimmerman said the exceptionally high standard of submissions this year was a reminder of the vibrant passion that encapsulates the retail industry. “The future prosperity of the Australian industry does not lie in the challenges, it lies in how we choose to embrace them to move retail forward,” he said.
Also speaking at the event was eftpos managing director, Bruce Mansfield, who told the audience retail is an exceptionally important industry because it impacts on everyone’s daily life.
“With the rise of international marketplaces, mobile platforms and the dynamic needs of modern shoppers, it will be extraordinary Australian retailers who continue to thrive in the shifting retail landscape,” he said.
Runners-up in the Retailer of the Year awards were Bunnings, JB Hi-Fi, Aldi and Ikea. The Realise People’s Choice Award winner was Myer with Bunnings the runner-up.
