ALDI has opened a new store within the Willow’s Shopping Centre in Townsville, Queensland – marking the first ALDI store in North Queensland.
Offering the local community an exclusive range of high-quality products at low prices, the 1,379 square metre custom-designed store features a range of innovations including self-checkouts, a modern interior design and simple layout.
The store will deliver award-winning fresh produce delivered daily, 100% Australian meat and iconic Special Buys.
ALDI Australia managing director for Queensland, Bronwyn Post said, “We know the passion North Queenslanders have for ALDI and how much they’ve been looking forward to ALDI bringing Australia’s lowest priced groceries to the region. Now more than ever it’s important that Australians have access to affordable groceries so it’s truly a pleasure for us to be able to reach a whole new community of people with our ‘Good Different’ shopping experience.
“Our Price Promise remains the same from the day we opened our first store over 20 years ago – we won’t be beaten on the cost of your weekly shop. We look forward to welcoming the residents of Townsville to the store so they can discover the savings that can be made for themselves.”
In August 2020, ALDI became the first Australian supermarket to commit to 100% renewable electricity, achieving this in June 2021. All ALDI Australia stores, offices and warehouses are now fully powered by renewable electricity.
In addition to being completely powered by renewable electricity, in 2019, ALDI also committed to reducing plastic packaging by 25% and ensuring 100% of packaging will be reusable, recyclable or compostable by 2025. In 2021, ALDI committed to sending zero waste to landfill by 2025 with an initial focus on reducing food waste.
There are 40 part-time and full-time employees joining the ALDI Townsville team.
