DealsDirect, the pioneer in Australian online retail, has partnered with Rakuten Marketing’s Display business to further drive their online catalogue.
Through a combination of Rakuten Marketing’s keyword targeting, ad placements, and serving ads via contextual targeting, DealsDirect’s Baby Catalogue and Birthday Catalogue achieved some impressive results, including:
- The Baby Catalogue reached a total of 150,000 unique consumers, with the majority of revenue being generated via keyword targeting tactics. After serving ads on relevant sites the ads produced a 25% return rate
- The engagement rate with banners came in at 5%, and saw a 0.13% Click Through Rate (CTR), with the contextual campaign producing the highest CTR. The overall ROAS (Return on Ad Spend) that DealsDirect saw from the Baby Catalogue was $8:$1
- The DealsDirect Birthday Catalogue reached 350,000 unique shoppers with a 33% return rate
- Through serving ads on websites such as major lifestyle and news publications DealsDirect obtained a 4% engagement rate with 0.15% CTR. The keyword strategy was the top performer and the Birthday Catalogue saw an overall $8:$1 ROAS
Michael Rosenbaum, co-founder of DealsDirect, said of the partnership, “We have worked with the team at Rakuten Display for over 2 years and they continue to deliver a high level of customer service that we have come to expect. The DealsDirect catalogue now has a greater reach online driving a high level of engagement. The ads themselves are on brand and dynamic and the Rakuten Display media buying team are always looking at better ways to optimise and increase our return on ad spend.”
Additionally, using Rakuten Display’s dynamic ad functionality, customised ads that adhere to the DealsDirect brand guidelines were created. These ads were then personalised based on the relevant catalogue content as well as incorporating the DealsDirect product feed, the dynamic ads included features such as tabs, scrolling capabilities, zoom and rotate which made the overall catalogue experience seamless and highly engaging.
