Gelato franchise has entered into the Middle East with the opening of its first store in Kuwait.
Combining Middle Eastern flair with Gelatissimo’s trademark sophistication, the gelateria is the first to be opened by the state’s master franchisee International Trade Holding Co. Kuwait. It is one of three Kuwaiti gelaterias opening this year with more to follow.
Gelatissimo joint-CEO Domenico Lopresti said the Middle East was a climate ideal destination to open a store.
“We are particularly pleased our first gelateria is in Kuwait, which has traditionally been a successful testing ground for new franchises for the Middle East. Perhaps more than any other country in the region, Kuwait is ‘franchise friendly’, with all the major international franchises well established,” he said..
The master franchisee saw the brand in the Philippines and recognised the potential for it in other markets.
“We knew that Gelatissimo would be embraced in Kuwait as it is totally different to anything currently available,” Richard Sabella, vice president business Development of International Trade Holding Co. Kuwait, said.
Gelatissimo’s Australian head office worked closely with the Master Franchisee to create the products suitable for local tastebuds. Middle Eastern flavours such as pistachio, honey, fig and cardamom sit comfortably next to Gelatissimo core flavours and Australian delights such as wattle, eucalyptus, mango and macadamia.
The gelateria is located in The Village, a 15 restaurant development, just outside Kuwait City.
