After months of anticipation, construction of Harbour Town. an extensive retail development at Melbourne’s Waterfront City, is now underway.
Harbour Town is part of of the second stage of development at Waterfront City. This stage also features 104 residential homes, eight commercial suites and a 130 metre high Southern Star Observation Wheel.
Similar in style to the London Eye, it will be the first of its kind in Australia and a major tourist attraction for the area and offer incredible views stretching as far as Geelong.
Due for completion in 2008, Harbour Town comprises two levels of open air retail space with almost 20,000sqm dedicated to this exciting retail concept that will offer shoppers up to 70 percent off the regular retail price of premium brands. In addition, there will be a further 21,000sqm comprising around 100 specialty fashion, food, entertainment and leisure outlets. The development will also be supported by public transport and over 2,200 public car spaces.
The Harbour Town brand is jointly owned by ING Real Estate and Lewis Land with three existing centres in Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia.
