ISPT’s Barkly Square Shopping Centre in Brunswick, Victoria will undergo a $17 million refurbishment that will commence in April 2012 before finishing up late 2013.

The centre, which is already anchored by Coles, Kmart, Woolworths and 36 specialty stores, will see a full internal and external upgrade to its appearance, amenities plus new additions to its retail mix such as JB Hi-Fi. There will also be a new fresh food market precinct and an external dining precinct.

Daryl Browning, CEO of ISPT, said: “By refreshing Barkly Square’s retail mix, food offer and amenities, we are creating a contemporary and vibrant shopping destination and meeting place for the Brunswick community who call Barkly Square their local shopping centre”.

Work to the centre will be completed in two main stages – late November 2012 for the fresh food market precinct and October 2013 for the McDougall Lane dining precinct and JB Hi-Fi store.

Daryl Browning affirms the redevelopment will enhance the company’s relationship with the community.

“ISPT is committed to working with customers and the community to ensure Barkly Square continues as an integral part of the local community,” he said.

“We will increase our level of engagement by offering locals the opportunity to participate in centre events and activities”.
