Independent hardware retailers are reaping the benefits of increased inâ€store traffic and better margins as a result of Home Timber and Hardware’s Home Team rewards program.
Research from the company indicates that Home Team loyalty cardholders spend 30 per cent more in-store than non-members and, on average, generate an increased margin of one per cent.
Andrew Senyard, Home Timber and Hardware national marketing manager, said the Home Team loyalty program is specially designed for independent retailers as a tool to better manage customer relationships and ensure their store is meeting their specific market’s needs.
“Alongside Home Timber and Hardware’s existing suite of marketing tools, we created Home Team as a valuable communications vehicle for stores to gain insights into how to grow their business,” he said.
“Being such a simple and cost effective program, and with no current competition in the retail hardware space, we’re hearing really positive feedback from participating retailers who are gaining significant business benefits as a result of joining Home Team.”
As a component of Home’s marketing program, retailers incur no program management fees. They also have the flexibility to create promotions and offers relevant to their customers and local market. Retailers are supported with a suite of point of sale marketing collateral that can be tailored to communicate the store’s offers to customers, helping their business get the most from Home Team.
For consumers, they can earn points every time they shop at their local store, with bonus points available on selected items from the ‘Dogalogues’ and special discount offers. They can then redeem points towards inâ€store purchases, providing a strong incentive to come back and spend at their local Home store.
Steven Cooper, store owner of Coopers Hardware in Bundaberg, says Home Team Loyalty has been a great relationship building tool, resulting in a noticeable increase in repeat spending from customers.
“We used to offer a straight discount, but with Home Team, customers started seeing points add up to earn considerable discounts off their bill. Making it so easy for customers to earn rewards has ensured they come back to spend more at our store, more often,” he said.
