Leading UK outdoor retailer, Mountain Warehouse has opened its first store in Melbourne at DFO Moorabbin, in the city’s south-east.
The opening marks the brand’s second Australian store, followed by its offline debut in Brisbane in July. The new stores are part of an expansion plan to bring great value outdoor gear to adventurers across Australia.
Established in 1997, Mountain Warehouse operates 371 stores and multiple websites across nine countries. The expansion follows the success of the retailer’s Australian website launched in 2017 and continued success in neighbouring New Zealand, currently its third largest market with 24 stores.
With 370 square metres of trading space, the new store features men’s, women’s, and kids’ wear, as well as footwear and equipment. This winter, customers will discover bestsellers such as ski gear, down jackets, hiking kit and backpacks.
Mountain Warehouse founder and CEO, Mark Neale said, “We’re delighted to be opening our second store in Australia after the success of our Brisbane shop. We know Australians love exploring the great outdoors, so we are excited to bring our passion for adventure and great value gear for all the family here. We also have plans to open two additional locations this year.”
The opening of the Moorabbin store has created 12 new jobs in the local area.
