The country’s largest Australian-owned and operated book retailer, QBD Books has opened a new store in the Brisbane town of Springfield.

Opening at Orion Springfield Central on 31 August, the grand opening was the retailer’s second store opening of 2024, bringing it to a total of 88 stores across Australia.

Founded in the Brisbane area and named for its QLD origins (Queensland Book Depository), the new store will be the retailer’s 26th store in QLD.

“Opening stores in QLD always holds a special place in our heart, as this is where it all began,” QBD Books CEO, Nicholas Croydon said.

The opening marks the significant return of a beloved bookstore to the Springfield community, filling the gap left by the recent closure of another book realtor in March.

“We are excited to bring books back to Orion Springfield Central and look forward to continuing the tradition of great service and extensive book selection for everyone, that comes with a QBD Books store,” Croydon said.
