There is scope for The Good Guys to open another 40 stores over the next five years, according to CEO Michael Ford, who spoke at an Australia-Israel Chamber of Commerce retail forum in Sydney.

Ford said: “While these will be rolled out nationally the main focus will be on New South Wales."

Ford also confirmed that work had already started on the Tempe store in Sydney with other stores planned at Marsden Park and Gregory’s Hill and a second store each in Townsville and Geelong.

“The whole reason for our expansion program is to grow and acquire more capital to ensure we open in areas where we have not been previously. One of the challenges was not getting into postcodes because our competition, namely JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman cannibalised our postcodes,” Ford said.
