Australia Post has announced that it will be increasing the prices for registered post, selected domestic and international products and services and some packaging products.
The prices changes, which will be effective on 7 October 2013, will see for example B4 size express post prepaid envelopes increase from $6.95 to $7.20. Full listings of price changes can be found here.
These price hikes follow Australia Post’s earlier decision to bump up prices in April.
Australia Post, however, has defended its position indicated the decision is “never easy” and the new prices reflect and will recover costs in providing its services.
“Like many businesses, we're operating in a challenging economic environment with increasing costs, particularly around raw materials, delivery, transport and energy,” Australia Post wrote on its website.
“To ensure our business is self-sustaining, we are reducing operating costs, improving network efficiencies, adjusting prices to recover our true costs, and enhancing our products.”
There will be no change to the basic postage rate of 60 cents.
