Borders Direct has selected Sterling Order Management as the order fulfillment foundation for its upcoming Borders.com e-commerce site, set to launch in early 2008.
The new site will replace the current Borders.com teamed with Amazon.com e-commerce site, and will require best-of-breed order fulfillment capabilities. Sterling Commerce will provide these capabilities, giving Borders customers efficient order processing and a rich cross-channel experience.
“After an extensive assessment, we chose the Sterling Order Management solution because it offers a powerful combination—speed of deployment, best-of-breed capabilities, and the commitment of Sterling’s senior management— to deliver a highly effective solution that meets our aggressive implementation timelines,” says Rick Vanzura, executive vice president emerging business and technology, for Borders Group.
“We are pleased to be the order management solution and implementation partner for Borders. Their selection reflects our demonstrated ability and absolute assurance to deliver a world-class solution that meets the company’s expectations for a high-quality implementation to support an end-to-end e-commerce rollout in early 2008,” says Bob Irwin, chief executive officer of Sterling Commerce.
For Borders, Sterling Order Management will facilitate the efficient processing of customer orders on Borders.com to and from the company’s fulfillment operations. In addition, the solution will provide capabilities to enable Borders to offer ship-to-store or fulfill-from-store functionality, helping the company increase customer satisfaction.
