With the year almost coming to an end, online IT retailer eStore.com.au has already made plans for the 2011.
The company said it is looking to acquire local online companies to boost its reach and range of products nationally.
Speaking to Retailbiz, eStore.com.au CEO Lorenzo Coppa said the Australian market is its main client reach, particularly in New South Wales and Queensland but it wants to be an online retailer that is known nationally.
eStore.com.au has plans to expand both organically and through acquisitions, with a lookout for potential companies selling technology products online that can add value to the company’s portfolio.
“We’ve already acquired one company earlier this year but there’s many smaller online IT retailers that have good ideas and their growth were initially good but now with the competitive market, they may not have the financial backing and so we’re looking to acquire businesses like that,” Coppa said.
As Australia’s retail sector continues to face mounting pressure from online and overseas retailers, Coppa sees more retailers moving towards the online model.
“Consumers are becoming savvier and are increasingly moving towards buying online citing reasons such as better prices, convenience and greater choice from online retailers. As competition increases, only those that have the purchasing power to offer a wide breadth and depth of products at the best prices, backed up by excellent customer service will survive.”
