Australian furniture brand, Koala, has announced an Australian-first initiative where it will pay the rent or mortgage for one Australian for an entire year, to help them live like a Boomer.

As a business built on offering premium furniture at affordable prices, Koala has doubled down on its promise to make the good life ‘gettable’, by introducing a nationwide initiative, in which they will pay one lucky Australians’ rent or mortgage, for an entire year (up to the value of A$75,000).

Until Sunday 27 August, Australians can visit boomerblocker.com and enter their details for a chance to win. In a bid to stop the golden generation from claiming more good deals, Koala is rolling out a first-of-its-kind Boomer Blocker, a generationally biased questionnaire which Australians will need to answer as part of their application, purposefully designed to filter out Boomers and ensure the offer is available to Generation X, Y and Z.

Using a system of youthful references and prompts, the Boomer Blocker will quiz applicants on everything from Brangelina, to planking, ‘swag’, emojis and more.

Koala chief commercial officer, Rory Costello said, “Koala’s promise to Australians is to make the good life gettable, by giving them premium furniture options at affordable prices. At a time when premium furniture options are usually reserved for boomers and their big wallets, everyone is feeling the cost-of-living crunch and these struggles extend beyond the bedroom.

“We wanted to give Millennials, Gen Z’ers and everyone in-between, the opportunity to have their rent or mortgage paid for an entire year, so they can use their cash for other luxuries that boomers enjoy daily. Unfortunately, boomers will have a hard time cracking the boomer blocker, but we encourage all boomers to give it a go.”
