Pinterest is expanding its shopping features to more countries including Australia, Canada, France and Germany allowing Pinterest users to shop direct from Pins, on boards, from search, and inspiration they find in the real-world using Lens camera search.

Pinterest is also expanding its new suite of merchant tools to help retailers of all sizes, with the Verified Merchant Program, merchant storefront on profile, and new product tagging.

Global consumers are increasingly turning to Pinterest as a key shopping destination and the number of Pinterest users engaging with shopping surfaces on Pinterest grew over 200% for the year to 31 March 2021.

New ways for Pinners to shop

The new Shopping List feature, coming to Australia soon, allows Pinners to access saved product Pins in one place and find key information such as price, reviews and shipping to compare products. Pinners will be informed of any price update thanks to price drop notifications.

Pinners can now shop from search with a shop tab and 100% shoppable results. Users can sort by price and brand to find the right products for their style and price point.

Shopping with Lens connects real-world, offline inspiration to online ideas that can be shopped on Pinterest, powered by visual search. When Pinners see something that inspires them out in the real world, they can take a picture using the Pinterest camera and run a visual search for similar in-stock home decor and fashion products.

Now when Pinners tap on a Pin they are interested in, they will be shown products and shoppable categories that are featured in the image. Through visual search technology, Pinners can shop the aesthetic of the Pins that inspire them.

When users discover products they love, they will be shown additional details like price, shipping, and reviews directly from the retailer so they can learn more and decide whether they want to buy.

Shopping Spotlights introduce expert-selected, trending content to inspire Pinners to shop and discover new brands. With the feel of a personal stylist and the look of an editorial magazine, the experience is kicking off with product picks based on Pinterest trends from publishers including Marie Claire in Australia.

New ways for merchants to set up shop

Pinterest has launched the Verified Merchant Program with retailers like Culture Kings, Country Road and David Jones, after meeting qualifications for high quality products, website and positive customer service experiences.

Verified Merchants will display a special blue checkmark on their profiles and become eligible for increased distribution within high-intent shopping experiences and metrics like conversion reporting. Retailers interested in signing up for the program can learn more at pinterest.com/verified.

An updated profile enables merchants to transform their shop tab into a storefront with featured in-stock products organised by category, featured product groups and dynamically-created recommendations.

With the new product tagging feature, merchants can add inspirational images and tag them with shoppable products. When Pinners close up on a Pin with tagged products, they will be able to see product details like title and price and can tap the tag to visit the product Pin and learn more.
