Leading Shopify Plus eCommerce agency, The Working Party, has appointed Dominik Wilkowski as chief technology officer.

With over 20 years of experience in engineering management, design systems, UI development and leadership, Wilkowski brings a wealth of expertise to lead The Working Party’s continued growth and technical excellence.

Returning to The Working Party after a decade, Wilkowski has an extensive track record, having held senior engineering and management positions at Westpac, Shopify and Thinkmill. In 2014, during his first tenure at The Working Party, he worked on a new responsive framework for The Westpac Group that became one of the first multi-brand design systems in Australia.

This enabled hundreds of teams to build applications and sites for branches such as Bank of Melbourne, Bank South Australia and St George, while maintaining quality and accessibility. At Shopify, he was instrumental in leading the evolution of Polaris, arguably the world’s most prolific design system to date.

As people director at Thinkmill, Wilkowski grew the consultancy from 18 to 60 team members, building out its design systems arm. His expertise in leading multi-disciplinary teams and fostering innovation ensures he can create environments where designers and developers collaborate seamlessly.

As chief technology officer, Wilkowski will lead The Working Party’s technical strategy, overseeing all aspects of the agency’s digital product development, design systems, and technical infrastructure.

He will support the implementation of the company’s most complex projects, ensuring they meet the highest standards. He will be responsible for the growth and mentorship of the UX/UI and development teams, ensuring cross-functional collaboration and growth.

Commenting on his new role, Wilkowski said: “I’m excited to be returning to The Working Party, APAC’s leading Shopify agency. My mission is to elevate our global presence, lead the charge in driving technical innovation and foster a culture of excellence within the engineering and design teams.

“I will enhance The Working Party’s technical capabilities, offer my expertise to our large-scale enterprise clients, and leverage my experience at Shopify to deliver industry-leading Shopify practices, reinforcing the company’s position as the top Shopify Plus agency in APAC.”

The Working Party co-founder, Kelly Brown said, “We’re delighted to welcome Dominik back to The Working Party. He will play an instrumental role as his expertise in technical innovation and design systems, particularly for enterprise clients, will enhance our ability to deliver high-quality solutions and strengthen our leadership in the market.”
