Australian wine brand Jacob’s Creek has launched its Premium Drinks app that has been designed to allow shoppers to scan store receipts to received instant rewards.
Powered by ScanZap technology, the app recognises and validates store receipts eliminating consumer barriers for shoppers to claim reward points. It also enables customers to redeem offers on the go in any location.
Anne Martin, Pernod Ricard Winemakers marketing director, said the app is aimed to engage with consumers and help deliver an experience into the palm of their hands.
“By providing compelling offers with the Premium Drinks app, Jacob's Creek is looking to develop a direct relationship with a wide range of shoppers,” she said.
“With the technology of the app designed to complement consumer shopping patterns through the scanning of receipts, we hope to see the app incentivise and drive in-store sales.”
According to Martin, the Premium Drinks app extends the role of the smartphone post-purchase.
“It's important for retailers to remain engaged with the evolving path-to-purchase for today's customers,” she said.
“Smartphones are currently playing a huge role in informing and influencing customers' purchases, with 68 per cent of smartphone owners using their handsets to research products.
“Recent research has shown that more than a quarter of customers have changed their minds about purchasing a product or service in-store based upon information sourced with their smartphones, demonstrating the value of establishing a digital relationship prior and post purchase to drive store traffic.”
