The MP Group was involved in helping the newly refurbished Sydney T2 Domestic Airport achieve the winner’s award at the 2012 Design Awards.
The shopfitting, construction joinery and maintenance company was contracted by project creator Noxon Giffen on behalf of Airport Retail Enterprises to carry out the project management of the Bistro Bar, Bread Brassiere & Toby’s Estate.
As part of the 16 week long project, MP Group manufactured, supplied and installed the complex and extensive joinery package, which included all the refrigeration, equipment, stone work and signage packages.
“This project required much planning and involved working closely together with the Client and the Clients Architect to ensure that the fit out was carried out within the strict guidelines of the airport , as the Client envisaged, and as well falling within the budget and specified timeframes,” the MP Group said.
The new area of the T2 Domestic Airport is delineated by a flowing wall of natural timber battens thereby linking the three tenancies in a 'precinct'.
A consistent palette of raw durable materials including timber, stone and steel are used throughout to create a rich and inviting environment; a respite for travellers and a quiet intimate alternative to the bustle of the expansive adjacent food court.
