The number of Australian businesses seeking on-demand marketing solutions continues to grow rapidly in 2010, with email marketing provider Silverpop signing a raft of new clients across a broad range of industries in the last six months.

In particular, there has been a surge of interest from the retail sector as businesses look for clever ways to deepen relationships with customers and prospects.

Companies such as online gift retailer RedBalloon have taken up Silverpop’s on-demand services to drastically improve the quality of their marketing strategies and tactics.

Among RedBalloon’s 2010 marketing goals is the need to increase email marketing-related revenue by improving subscriber engagement. By using Silverpop’s Share-to-Social feature the online retailer will encourage subscribers to share branded messages to their social networks.

Jeff Clark, managing director of Engage Digital, Silverpop’s partner in Australia and New Zealand, elaborated on the company’s recent success.

“We’re seeing more and more businesses actively seeking solutions that make it easy to engage new prospects, connect with existing subscribers and leverage new channels of opportunity,” he said.

“Most companies realise now that mass marketing tactics don’t work and so people are looking for smart technology options that ensure personalised communication and marketing campaigns strike a chord with customers.”
