Toshiba’s latest edition to the business range of wireless notebooks is the Tecra A8. The 15.4 inch widescreen desktop-replacement model includes several new EasyGuard features to increase protection of the motherboard, HDD and keyboard while travelling. These features include a thicker HDD casing, 50 per cent fewer screws for improved serviceability, anti-bounce keyboard resulting in 44 per cent less bending and vibration and advance hinging design that is three times stronger to support the new widescreen monitor.
The Tecra A8 was subject to an intensive testing process, codenamed HALT (highly accelerated life testing), to simulate heavy notebook usage. Notebooks are tested to ascertain their resistance to extreme temperatures (-25C to +70C), resistance to shocks and repetitive vibration.
The A8 is available with either an Intel Core Solo T1400 or Core Duo T2400 processor. It also comes with 512MB RAM, up to 80 gigabyte (GB) hard drive and Intel 945GM Express chipset for high quality video and graphics.
Toshiba has also included a three-year international warranty as standard to vouch for the quality of the notebook.
