Activate Group has conducted its first roundtable on ‘Field Team Future’ in Sydney this month with special guests – Kellanova national field manager, Tertius Lombard and Mills Oakley employment law expert, Rachael Sutton.
Senior leaders from the Activate membership were also in attendance including Strikeforce AMC chair & CEO, Matt Lloyd, Creative Activation CEO, Simone Heath, Crossmark director of operations, Luke Johnson, Retail Tasker CEO, Tony Klatt and Blanc Marketing Curator CEO, Bianca Velez.
The discussion focused on the ramifications of employment law changes that will affect casual employees. While the Federal Government laws allow for some flexibility, the underlying issue is the potential for these changes to be made mandatory, effectively ending the current choices.
The group explored organisations with existing EBA arrangements, highlighting their sustainability while also examining alternative methods for employing and managing casual teams.
The table also discussed the introduction of an award program to recognise excellence within field teams and this has been accepted by Activate as an ‘in-action’ project.
Further research on the future of casual employees will be conducted before a second roundtable on field teams.
