Australian liquor distributor, Swift + Moore continues to adapt to a changing marketplace, bringing its warehousing in-house, making it quicker and easier to dispatch products. The new warehouse responds to the growing need for delivery flexibility and growing use of direct-to-store and direct-to-venue orders by the wholesale community.
Swift & Moore CEO, Michael McShane said, “In the current environment customer service must be at the forefront of all we do. We know many in the trade – retailers, restaurants, venues and wholesalers alike – are all being challenged by rising costs. In opening our own warehouse to supplement our longstanding existing logistics arrangements, Swift & Moore is able to increase the flexibility of delivery to our valuable customers.”
While it is not unusual for liquor sales to be caught up in tough times, Australia’s retail sector has been struggling under the weight of the current cost-of-living crisis and liquor resellers and wholesalers are not immune. Discounting in the liquor industry has added to competitiveness across the liquor industry, which when combined with rapidly increasing distribution costs, continues to challenge the industry.
“While liquor wholesalers and retailers adjust their businesses to deal with rises in costs such as electricity and rents, restaurants and venues with rising food costs as well as less discretionary spending, we at Swift + Moore are doing our part to respond to the industry’s needs and support its traditional resilience.”
