Almost half of Australian consumers (46%) made a purchase on Temu during the September quarter, according to new research from Australia’s fastest-growing franchised courier service, CouriersPlease, with 62% aged under 30 and 44% of those over 50.

IBISWorld projects Australia’s e-commerce sector to reach an annual turnover of $57.7 billion this year. The surge of cross-border activity combined with a booming domestic e-commerce market is amplifying the logistical challenges of parcel delivery across the country.

With this in mind, CouriersPlease has formed cross-border partnerships, which have become crucial to smoothing out last-mile delivery complexities. This includes a collaboration with cross-border logistic platform, EIZ.

By integrating EIZ technology, CouriersPlease is tapping into digital infrastructure needed to streamline international shipping, ensuring millions of parcels from global sellers reach Australian shoppers.

Since launching in 2018, EIZ has become a pivotal player in e-commerce logistics, helping global retailers navigate the international delivery gap by breaking down language and distance barriers. The platform allows retailers to integrate with local delivery networks and get parcels to last-mile delivery services and into the hands of Australian buyers.

CouriersPlease CEO, Richard Thame said, “Our love affair with online shopping is driving incredible growth across the sector and our cross-border partners are helping us to meet the ever-growing consumer demand for quicker, more efficient deliveries.

“Tapping into advanced logistics technology gives the edge in cross-border parcel management, ensuring that Australian shoppers receive their online purchases on time and with full visibility from the moment they purchase an item.”

EIZ general manager for Asia Pacific, Sergio Balmes reports that more than 200,000 parcels are arriving in the country daily, making the platform’s role in streamlining the integration between global sellers and Australian consumers more vital than ever.

“EIZ’s technology is at the heart of how we keep pace. By enabling pre-labelling for cross-border shipments and providing end-to-end tracking and working with leading parcel and delivery services such as CouriersPlease we ensure that retailers, whether from China, Europe, or the US, can seamlessly tap into the Australian market,” he said.

“With new e-commerce platforms like TikTok poised to make a major impact on consumer buying behaviour, we expect social media marketplaces to soon join Temu and Shein in fuelling Australia’s online shopping appetite.”
