top Christmas gifts

eBay has created a list of the 100 gifts Australians want most this Christmas, based on the most searched for and purchased items on the site.

The list reveals that personalisation is a big trend this year, virtual reality is gaining traction and in the kitchen it’s all about wellness.

Here are some of the trending products.

Kids

According to eBay trend watcher, Meg English, children will be turning away from their screens this year with parents purchasing products driven by a sense of nostalgia.

“For the first time in years we are seeing toys that don’t rely on a screen trending in greater numbers for Christmas,” she said. “There is a real sense of nostalgia among the hot products—the old favourites are back, rebooted with more functionality than ever before.”

“The Pokemon craze has kept the nostalgic fires burning and we’ll see a lot of parents buying up big in this space, looking to recreate the magic for their little ones that they felt the first time this trend came around.”

We’re seeing personalisation everywhere this Christmas—think the Myer Giftorium where you can customise a Nutella jar or a leather wallet—and eBay is no exception.

If eBay searches and purchases are anything to go by, virtual reality is being embraced by consumers.

Game consoles and Apple products also proved popular.
